VISIT TO A CIDER HOUSE - SIDRATURISMO CASTAÑÓN
Castañón is a cider house with a family tradition dating back to 1938. It boasts modern facilities that were inaugurated in 2011.
During the guided tour, we will explore the elaboration process by following the journey of the apple. This begins from the moment it arrives until it transforms into bottled cider.
We will visit several areas, including the bottling area, the apple orchards, and the pressing area, where the process starts, and the must (sweet cider) is obtained. The tour continues to the stainless steel tank area, where we will have the chance to taste a “culín” (a typical small pour) of Castañón y Val de Boides DOP cider straight from the barrel.
Finally, we will arrive at the special room with wooden barrels. This area serves as a tribute to their old cider press, where cider is still fermented in the traditional way and where celebrations and events ("espichas") are held.
The visit will be complemented by a cheese aperitif.
